Fireworks Safety
Fireworks and celebrations go together, especially during the Fourth of July and New Year holiday seasons. But fireworks can be dangerous when used improperly, causing serious burn and eye injuries.
Even though it is legal to buy, possess, and use consumer fireworks (1.4G) in the unincorporated areas of Harris County, there are some places you cannot use fireworks even in the unincorporated county. If celebrating with fireworks is legal in your area, and you decide to use them, please refer to the Harris County Fire Marshal's Fireworks Overview website for additional information. Included on this site is information regarding safety tips, common violations, retail requirements, current public displays, and LPA's.
You can also visit the Texas Fireworks Safety or National Council on Fireworks Safety websites. Their mission is to educate the public on the safe and responsible use of fireworks and offer a wide variety of information including safety tips, statistics, state laws and current news related to fireworks.
Visit the following link from the City of Houston website that lists the areas that are Limited Purpose Annexation Areas of the City of Houston in Harris County in which fireworks are illegal.
